“I Still Believe What My Eyes Can’t See”…That’s Why I’m Waiting!

If you have a “church upbringing”, then you should have a wide range of gospel songs cataloged in your memory. It doesn’t matter the denomination; music is such an important component to most church services. My Baptist upbringing taught me to appreciate the classic traditional hymns; while my father inspired in me a love for singing “lined” hymns. But my all-time favorite styles of gospel music has to be contemporary choir and praise and worship.

I find it amazing how no matter the issue I’m facing, an appropriate gospel song always seems to ring in my ears.  Lately, I’ve been seeking God for patience. God has me placed in a posture of waiting and I have to admit that I am tired of being in this position.  But, every time I feel like getting up and moving, I hear Travis Green singing While I’m Waiting. I want to encourage you as I encourage myself.  If you find yourself in the “waiting process”, God is not trying to punish you. We have to learn not to put a time stamp on when we think God should answer our prayers.  Joel Osteen preached about the waiting process in his sermon, The Twenty-First Day (posted below).  The scripture text for this message comes from Daniel chapter 10 when Daniel made a request to the Lord but demonic warfare withheld the answer from Daniel for 21 days. Like Daniel, we need to remain patient and believe that God is working on our behalf. Pastor Osteen reminds us that, “The twenty-one days is symbolic. It means there is a set time for God to breakthrough with the answer to your prayer”.

You might be waiting on healing, a financial breakthrough, or a long sought after answer.  Don’t move before God moves you. Be patient. While you are waiting, you are getting stronger. Every beginning has an ending and every day you are moving closer and closer to the end of your waiting season. There’s a church colloquialism that rings true: “He may not come when you want Him, but He’s always on time”.  Let’s keeping waiting on the Lord. And as always, let’s press on together!
